Double bugle head drywall screws are mainly used for fastening gypsum boards to thin metal studs with a thickness of 0.4–0.8mm. The only difference between double bugle head drywall screws and standard drywall screws lies in the shape of the bugle head.
For regular bugle head self tapping screws, the pressure during use is distributed over a larger area, which can sometimes lead to gypsum board cracking. However, double bugle head screws significantly reduce this risk. Because the contact area is smaller, all the pressure is concentrated in a more focused zone, allowing the screw head to penetrate the board surface more easily without causing it to break. This type of self tapping drywall screws for metal studs offers a more controlled and stable fastening performance.
For general home or office ceiling installations, we recommend using standard bugle head self tapping screws for their higher cost-performance ratio. However, for projects with higher surface requirements—such as high-end commercial spaces or exhibition halls—double bugle head drywall screws are a better choice.
Hot-selling size is 3.5x25mm, equivalent to 1 inch self tapping drywall screws. Other commonly used sizes in similar applications include 1 1/4 self tapping drywall screws, 1 5/8 self tapping drywall screws, and 1 1/4 self drilling drywall screws, which are also widely used in metal self drill plasterboard systems.
