What is Type 17 and what is its function?

Chipboard screws are mainly used for joining wooden materials. Many customers have reported that when fastening into hard wood, the wood tends to crack easily and the chipboard screw is difficult to drive in. After in-depth research by our technicians, we found that adding a cutting slot (Type 17 point) at the end of the screw can effectively solve these problems.

Reasons are as follows:

1. Improved chip removal:
The Type 17 cutting slot changes the way wood chips are discharged. When the screw is driven into hard wood, the slot acts like a small cutter, slicing the wood fibers, and the resulting chips are discharged through the slot. This prevents wood chips from accumulating between the threads and causing expansion, which reduces driving resistance and greatly improves installation efficiency.

2. Reduced wood cracking:
The addition of the Type 17 point changes how the screw penetrates the wood, allowing the force to be distributed more evenly. This significantly reduces the likelihood of the wood cracking.

3. Enhanced cutting performance:
Based on this design, we have further upgraded the product by adding dense serrations to the cutting area. These serrations increase the contact area between the screw and the wood, forming multiple cutting points as the screw is driven in. This design offers a distinct advantage when working with high-density solid wood furniture.
